The Ladder and Stairway Safety Course is taught in accordance with OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Subpart X. Working on and around stairways and ladders is hazardous. Stairways and ladders are major sources of injuries and fatalities in the construction industry, and many of the injuries are serious enough to require time off the job. OSHA estimates that there are almost 25,000 injuries and as many as 36 fatalities per year due to falls on stairways and ladders used in construction.
